Logan Brown, a 2006 Covington Graduate and state wrestling champion, competed in a dual for Purdue University against Mount St. Joseph on December 16, 2007 in West Lafayette, Indiana.
The red shirt freshman was impressive in front of his home fans, recording a pin over Pat Truster in 2:03. It was Brown's first collegiate fall and improved his record to 9-4 as Purdue won the dual 39-3.
On December 30th, Brown and the Boilermakers completed a ninth place finish at the Midlands Tournament in Evanston, Illinois.
Brown finished with a 3-2 record in the tournament, defeating Alek Hughes of Cleveland State via a 11-6 decision in the opening match.
The freshman grappler then lost by the score of 11-2 to No. 3 ranked and No. 2 seed Mike Tamillow of Northwestern to drop into the consolation bracket.
He followed with two straight wins, a 18-3 tech fall over Chris Flaugher of Southern Illinois and a 5-1 decision over Sterling Tribble of Air Force.
Brown concluded the tournament with a heartbreaking 4-3 loss to No. 10 ranked and No. 5 seed Matt Koz of Tennessee-Chatanooga. Brown was leading 3-2 in the waning moments of the match before Koz recorded a late takedown to steal the victory.
Brown's record stands at 12-6 in his first season at the collegiate level.
Logan and the Boilermakers head to Evanston Pa. on January 4th for a pair of duals with Rider and Drexel.
