Former Buccaneer and current Purdue freshman Logan Brown recorded his first Big Ten victory on Friday in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Brown's victory came over the No. 14 ranked 197 pounder in the nation, Anthony Biondo in a dual between the two Big Ten programs.
The match was close as neither wrestler could get much of an advantage throughout the first period.
But in the second period Brown scored on a takedown to take control. Brown then tried to turn his oppenent, injuring Biondo's shoulder in the process.
Biondo was ultimately forced to default due to his injury time expiring.
The impressive victory over a nationally ranked opponent moves Brown's record to 18-7 in this, his freshman season.
Meanwhile, the Boilermakers managed to win just three of the ten matches against sixth ranked Michigan team and fell by the score of 24-12.
Purdue is now 8-3 on the season.

Purdue then took part in the Wendy's Duals at Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio on Sunday and swept all three duals.
The Boilermakers defeated Ashland 34-3, Northern Illinois 24-16 and Liberty 24-19.
Brown went 3-0 on the afternoon to improve to 17-7 in his first season at the collegiate level.
He began the day with a 7-5 decision over Ashland's Josh Ohl as he recorded two first period takedowns and and escape to take a 5-3 lead in the third round. Ohl sent the match to an extra frame with a late takedown, but Brown recorded the victory with a takedown of his own in sudden death.
In his second match of the day, Brown defeated Jake Smith from Northern Illinois, 4-2.
After a scoreless first period, Smith recorded an escape to go up 1-0. But Brown quickly took the lead with a takedown to send the match into the third period with a 2-1 lead.
Brown then increased his lead to 4-1 with a reversal and held on for the victory.
The freshman concluded his afternoon with a dominating performance against Brandon Johnson of Liberty.
It took Brown just two period to record the tech fall, 18-2.
Brown started the match with three takedowns and three near-falls to go up 12-2 at the end of the first period.
He then close the show with and escape, a takedown and the near-fall.
Brown and the Boilermakers look to keep the momentum going on Friday, January 25th at Michigan.

Logan Brown and the Purdue Boilermakers made easy work of Air Force in a dual meet in West Lafayette on Friday. The Purdue grapplers were dominant, capturing a 35-6 team victory.
For the former Buccaneer wrestler, he captured a 12-3 major decision victory over Sterling Tribble at 197 pounds.
Brown started with a takedown just nine seconds into the match and increased his lead to 4-1 with another takedown after a Tribble escape.
The Purdue freshman kept the pressure on in the second period with two more takedowns to take an 8-2 lead and he closed the show in the final period for a 12-3 victory.
The impressive victory improves Brown's record to 14-7 on the season.
