Former Buccaneer State Champion and current Purdue red shirt freshman Logan Brown competed in a pair of duals over the weekend, going 1-1.
The Boilermakers opened the weekend against a tough team from Rider University and came out with a 24-18 victory.
Brown had a tough draw in the sixteenth ranked 197 pounder in the nation in T.J. Morrison.
Neither wrestler could gain an advantage until over 2:00 had ran off the clock. At the 2:32 mark Morrison recorded a takedown, but Brown quickly escaped just five seconds later to cut the margin to 2-1.
The Rider wrestler chose the down position to begin the second period and extended his lead to 3-1 on an escape, a score that would remain into the third period.
Looking to make his move in the third period from the down position, Brown was caught by Morrison for the fall in 6:04.
In the nightcap, Purdue recorded a 35-6 victory over Drexel as the Covington graduate rebounded with an impressive victory over Kyle Frey.
Logan opened with a takedown just 27 seconds into the match and then turned his man for near-fall points to go up 4-0.
It didn't take long for Brown to end the contest as he put both of Frey's shoulders on the mat for his second pin of his collegiate career.
Logan's record stands at 13-7 on the season as he prepares for a home dual against Air Force on January 18th.
