Covington hosted the Troy Trojans and Tri-County North Panthers in a tri meet that featured a number of outstanding area wrestlers. In the end, a strong Troy squad came away victorious with wins over Tri-County North, 61-15, and Covington, 53-18. The Buccs were victorious in their annual Cross County Conference match-up with Tri-County North, winning 48-30.

Covington had a pair of wrestlers finish the night with 2-0 records. The 189 lb. match between Covington's Logan Brown and Troy's Brandon Massie featured two undefeated wrestlers. Brown ended up victorious, however, as he built a 22-8 lead before pinning Massie with only 3 seconds remaining. At 215 lbs., Brian Ely earned a pin over Troy's Dan McCormick to finish 2-0. Going 1-1 for the Buccs were Jordan Tebbe (112 lbs., 1 pin), Ryan White (130 lbs., 1 pin), Bobby Wiltshire (140 lbs., 1 pin), Ryan Vanderhorst (152 lbs., 1 pin), Kyle Chalmers (160 lbs, 1 pin), Jake Wise (171 lbs., 1 pin) and C.J. Potter (275 lbs.).

Troy's Tanner Waid led the way for the Trojans with a 2-0 record at 145 lbs., probably the strongest weight class of the meet. Waid won both his matches, earning pins over Tri-County North's Jansen Clack and Covington‚s Logan Hall. Seven other Trojan‚s finished the evening 2-0, including Dee Franklin (103 lbs), Zach Sturwold (112 lbs.), Kenny Tebbe (125 lbs., 1 pin), Tom Blackmore (135 lbs., 2 pins), Drew Mastrino (140 lbs., 1 pin), Anthony Bond (160 lbs., 1 pin) and Andy Blankenship (275 lbs.).

These three teams will see each other once more, as each is competing in the 43-team Greater Miami Valley Wrestling Association's Holiday Tournament on Tuesday, Dec. 28, and Wednesday, Dec. 29, at Vandalia Butler High School.
