A TRIBUTE TO CHRIS NUTTER

On Thursday, January 11, 2024 prior to a wrestling dual against Piqua, the Covington wrestling program honored former Buccaneer wrestler Chris Nutter, who passed away on September 29, 2023 from cancer. Legendary coach Tom Barbee shared some memories of Chris from his wrestling days as a Buccaneer wrestler and presented some artwork of Chris to his two sisters, Becky and Angel, and his three daughters, Skylynn, Lacie Jane, and Krista.

During his wrestling career at Covington, Chris was a state qualifier in 1987 at 119 pounds and a member of the 1986 wrestling team that was inducted into the Covington Athletic Hall of Fame in 2022.

Chris was born on January 2, 1970 to his parents, Wilson and Rebecca. In addition to attending Covington Schools, Chris was a member of the Piqua Pentecostal Church. Chris enjoyed writing poetry, drawing, and singing and writing songs. He worked in landscaping. Chris loved his family most of all.
