2023-24: BUCCS GO 5-1 IN VERSAILLES DUALS

VERSAILLES – Covington took 2nd place at the Versailles Duals on Saturday, finishing with a 5-1 overall record to improve their dual meet record to 7-1 this season.  The Buccs started with a tightly contested, 42-41 victory over Kettering Alter, before defeating Tippecanoe, 51-30, and then Brookville, by the same 51-30 score, to win their pool.  Incredibly in round 4, the Buccs then won their 4th dual of the day with their third consecutive 51-30 score – this time over Waynesville.

Covington then won their semifinal round over Reading, with their fourth identical 51-30 score of the day. The Buccs then lost to Versailles in the championship dual, 46-34.

Going 6-0 for the Buccs at the event were Jericho Quinter (126 lbs, 5 pins), Michael Hagan (132, 5 pins), Chase Vanderhorst (138, 4 pins), Caleb Ryman (144, 3 pins) and Aveyen Meek (165, 5 pins).  Carson Taylor (113, 3 pins) went 5-1, while Henry Skaggs (120, 3 pins) finished 4-2.

Also winning matches for the Buccs were Eddie Deaton (106), Andrew Basye (132, pin), Landon Beeman (144, pin), Diego Lopez (150), Jack Blumenstock (157, pin), Kaden Thompson (165), Mason Epperson (175, pin), A.J. Reyes (190), A.J. Garman (215, pin) and Hayden Brown (285).

Covington competes next at the Greater Miami Valley Wrestling Association (GMVWA) Holiday Tournament on Wednesday and Thursday, December 27-28 at Vandalia-Butler High School.
